Good Afternoon!
I have received many questions about the recent article in the DSM Register regarding cutting HSAP programs. It is important for families to contact their legislators and let them know the importance of the HSAP programs. I have been told that emails are received, but it is also important to call and write your legislators regarding this issue. Andrea Farrier is a home school coordinator and home schooling mom in Marion. She has been actively working as a lobbyist for home schoolers and HSAP programs. She has organized the event that is described below and in the attachment.
I plan on attending this event, and if you are able to come, please join us on Thursday. If not, please contact your legislators as soon as possible. I will forward any additional information I receive.
Thank you!
Tami
HOWEVER – anyone who wants to let their voice be heard should come to Des Moines for the HSAP Family Day at the Capitol this Thursday, January 28th. We will meet at 12:00 noon under the rotunda in the basement. Please bring a sack lunch to eat while I share the latest legislative updates. We will then go up and POLITELY contact our legislators. I have already gotten RSVPs and tentative commitments from several legislators and candidates (including federal and gubernatorial candidates) for this day. It is going to be an important opportunity for families to show that HSAPs are a vital part of Iowa’s educational system. PLEASE pass this invitation along to your families ASAP. Attached is a write up you may use if you’d like also.
Thanks for supporting Iowa’s home schooling families!
