Franklin Library Event: Bringing Life to America’s History. Saturday, February 25, 2:00 PM
The Iowa Gold Star Military Museum will present a Civil War event at the Franklin Avenue Library. Museum staff, Civil War reenactors, costumed historians, and weapons experts will present a lively program about Iowa’s involvement in the Civil War.
Museum staff will narrate an overview of the causes of the US Civil War. Learn about the daily life of a Civil War soldier from Iowa, listen to quotes of Iowa soldiers describing their experiences, and engage in Q & A with presenters.
The Iowa Gold Star Military Museum’s aim is to honor and depict the military experience of Iowa citizens in all wars, homeland defense, and Iowa service. The museum collects, preserves, and exhibits materials that illustrate the story of Iowa’s military past from statehood to the present. The Iowa Gold Star Museum honors the heroic service of all Iowa veterans.
The Franklin Ave. branch library is at 5000 Franklin Ave in Des Moines. Visit www.dmpl.org for more information.

As school districts plan their finances for the next year, you may want to ask if your PSEO options may change for the 2012-2013 school year.
