HLR Programs
Registration is open for Recycle Me!, scheduled for Oct. 26. Designed for grades K – 2 (older siblings welcome), free admission. Kids have a hands-on activity and practice making decisions about items used in their everyday lives. 10:15 a.m. 30 minute program in Pleasant Hill. Cap of 35 kids. Questions? Want to kick-start a unit about Veterans Day? Listen to World War II Veteran Russ Johnson on Friday, Nov. 6, 2009. 1:30 p.m. Good for kids who can sit politely during a lengthy story. One hour in Grimes. Free admission. Reserve your spot by sending an email to see3sis@yahoo.com.

Nov. 6 – Listen to a WWII Veteran. 1:30 p.m. in Grimes. Registration information above.
Nov. 20 – Bread Around the World. Just in time for you to add to a Thanksgiving conversation, this program will discuss flat bread in Mexico, the United States, and India; include the topics of corn and yeast as ingredients, and have a hands-on food activity. Presented by Barb Vaske through World of Difference in West Des Moines. Two sessions, 10 a.m. and 11 a.m., 45 minutes each. Grades K – 8. Younger siblings will need to be off-site. Admission $5. Limit of 18 kids/session. Held in partnership with WDM HSAP. WDM HSAP families please register with Tami Prescott. Registration opens approximately Oct. 20. Information at Three Sisters website.
Nov. 20 — Home School P.E., Walnut Creek YMCA 1:00-4:00 (optional swimming from 2:55-3:50). A snack is provided. Non-members $5, members $2. Pre-registration is available through the Walnut Creek YMCA Website, www.dmymca.org
